the literary magazine of the Osterhout Free Library.

Here’s a sneak peek at the cover, designed by Erin Mazzoni for the upcoming issue!

The first issue of Word Fountain was printed in-house at the Osterhout Free Library in 2009. Since then we’ve printed 12 issues, and are preparing to launch our 13th as part of a new schedule of two issues per year on a spring-summer and fall-winter rotation.

We now publish both emerging and established writers from all over right alongside the best local and regional poets and storytellers that we can find.

We try to bring the best possible literary magazine to our patrons and give the opportunity for members of our communities to submit their work to be considered for publication with us.

Submissions are currently closed but will open again soon. Please see the submission page on to find out how to send us your work.

You can pick up your own copy of the latest issue from one of our branches or by checking out, where you can also view online versions and archives.

Please look for us on Facebook or Twitter, and feel free to keep track of upcoming announcements upcoming on our library’s Events Calendar
